Psalm 45:4

Do you remember Superman flying through the air, arm outstretched as the voice over declared Truth, Justice & the American way – Superman was fighting for good – a heroic example and this Psalm conjures up imagery of someone setting out to battle, sword drawn and ready to triumph
In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice.
Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds!

Ride Out What would Jesus ride – personally I get tired of the suggestion he would ride a Harley and I see him more likely to ride something like a CB125 or even a postie bike as he goes among the people.  But then I also see Him as the triumphant warrior – saviour of our race mounted on the most noble of steeds Zech 9:9 / Matt21:5
“Tell the people of Jerusalem,
‘Look, your King is coming to you.
He is humble, riding on a donkey—riding on a donkey’s colt.’”
Rev 19:11-16
The Rider on the White Horse
11 Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war. 12 His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself. 13 He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven, dressed in the finest of pure white linen, followed him on white horses. 15 From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress. 16 On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords
To Victory What determines the outcome?  You are only able to conquer when you do it in God’s strength and in obedience to Him Deut 1:42
“But the Lord told me to tell you, ‘Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.
Deut 20:4
For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and he will give you victory!
Defending We need to stand up for what is right and sometimes offence is the best form of defence – but we cannot go up against the enemy unprotected Eph 6:13
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.
Deut 33:7
Moses said this about the tribe of Judah: “O Lord, hear the cry of Judah and bring them together as a people. Give them strength to defend their cause; help them against their enemies!”
Truth Defending truth is defending Christ and being obedient to God’s commandments John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
Exodus 20:16
“You must not testify falsely (lie) against your neighbor.
Humility Pride cometh before the fall – arrogance and thinking yourself above a situation or a person is not representing Christ Phil 2:3-4
Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
Justice Justice is more than someone getting a punishment that fits the crime – justice is the upholding of that which is righteous Hosea 12:6
So now, come back to your God.
Act with love and justice, and always depend on him.
Prov 21:15
Justice is a joy to the godly,
but it terrifies evildoers
Amos 5:24
Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.
Go Forth You cannot meet the unchurched – the pre-saved within the confines of your church – you need to go out to where they are Matt 28:19
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[b] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
Luke 14:23
So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
Perform Deeds Faith needs action, otherwise it is just a concept – not much more than a politicians promise James 2: 14-16
14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? 15 Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, 16 and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?
